Set up in 2001, the .NAME generic extension is the only one meant for personal sites only. These domain names can include personal or fictitious names, nicknames and/or other titles people are popular by. Initially, only third-level registrations were permitted, so if you planned to reserve john.doe.name, you were supposed to do that under .doe.name. In 2004, however, the registration process was loosened and second-level registrations were also permitted. Already grabbed third-level domain names remained operational.

You will be able to change the WHOIS information, to park your domain, to modify Custom DNS records, etc. You can also transfer an existing domain to our company if you obtain its EPP transfer code from the current registration service provider and we will renew it after the transfer has been completed. There are no special conditions on who can register a dot NAME domain, but in order to preserve the concept behind its creation alive, the Registry may verify who the Registrant is and if there is no link between the owner and the actual domain, the registration might be challenged.
