SSD with Data Caching
What precisely is a solid-state drive (SSD)? What is SSD caching and how does it work? Check out the basic advantages of hosting your sites on an SSD-powered server.
A solid-state drive is incredibly quicker than any regular hard-disk drive. The reason is that an HDD uses rotating disks, which can rotate only so fast and the more information is read and written, the slower and hotter they get, at the same time an SDD employs modules of flash memory, therefore there are no actually moving parts. The access speeds for an SSD are drastically higher, which makes this sort of drives an ideal solution any time speed is needed. This is the reason why SSDs are in many cases used for the Operating System on a home PC and for storing data which is accessed frequently on servers. Many service providers also use a combination of the two drives, so they store the data on hard drives, but they use one or more solid-state drives so as to cache the more frequently used data and as a consequence, the data loads much quicker while the load on the HDDs is decreased since their disks have to spin less frequently to read and write.

SSD with Data Caching in Web Hosting
The cloud platform where we make
web hosting accounts uses solely SSD drives, so your web applications and static sites will load extremely fast. The SSDs are used for files, emails and databases, so regardless of whether you load a page or check for new e-mails through webmail, the content will load right away. So as to offer even greater speeds, we also use numerous dedicated SSDs that work only as cache. All content which generates a lot of traffic is copied on them automatically and is afterwards read from them and not from the main storage drives. Of course, that content is replaced dynamically for much better performance. What we achieve in this way apart from the better speed is reduced overall load, thus decreased chance of hardware failures, and prolonged lifespan of the primary drives, that's one more level of protection for any info that you upload to your account.

SSD with Data Caching in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you obtain one of our
semi-dedicated server packages, your websites will be stored on a cloud platform that uses exclusively SSD drives for the storing of files, databases and e-mails. Together with the advanced ZFS file system that we use, this configuration provides lightning-fast loading speed for each web app hosted on our end. To guarantee that the sites of one customer don't affect the ones of another one, we also use numerous SSDs as cache - our system discovers files which are accessed more frequently and copies them, so that they start loading from the caching drives. The content on the latter is updated dynamically and for that reason we can balance the load on all drives, ensure their long life-span, decrease the risk of disk failures and, of course, provide you with a super fast and reliable website hosting service.
